The environment is the set of
physical, chemical, biological, people or society as a whole.1 Includes all
natural, social and cultural values existing in a place and at a particular
time components that influence human life and future generations. That is, it
is not only the space in which life develops, but also includes living beings,
objects, water, soil, air and relations between them as well as such
intangibles as culture
etymology
The average word comes from the
Latin medium (neuter); as an adjective, Latin medius (male). The word comes
from the Latin ambiens environment, Ambientis, the Ambere verb,
"surround", "be on both sides." One might consider the
environmental expression as tautology because the meanings of the two elements
of such graphs are coincident with the inherent meaning when they go together.
However, some meanings of both words separately are different. Allowing
understanding is context. For example, other meanings, metaphoric, the term
environment refer to social sectors such as popular aristocratic atmosphere or
environment; or attitudes, such as having good atmosphere with friends and
other people and wildlife.
Environment
Although the usual way is to write
and pronounce two words (environment), the Royal Spanish Academy, in its
Pan-Hispanic Dictionary of Doubts (DPD), recommends using and writing in a
single environment word and environmental adjectival form. 2
Concept of environment
In the general theory of systems,
an environment is a complex of external factors acting on a system and
determine its course and way of existence. An environment could be seen as a
superset in which the given system is a subset. It may consist of one or more
parameters, physical or otherwise.
These external factors are:
Physical Environment: Physical
Geography, geology, climate, pollution.
biological environment:
Human population: Demographics.
Flora: source of food or producers.
Fauna: primary consumers,
secondary, etc. animals.
socioeconomic environment:
occupation or work: Exposure to
chemical, physical agents.
Development or cultural development
